Catching Up with Old Friends

Na Li
(Curtain Call, Australian Open Day 13) - Like Andy Murray, Na Li lost in the finals of the Australian Open and then went into a horrible slump, ultimately losing six matches in a row. With today's win, becoming the first Asian player of either sex to win a Grand Slam singles title, it would appear she has bounced back! It was really quite gratifying to watch today's final: two tough competitors who bring both grace and dignity to the affair. It will be fascinating to see how and if Li's triumph contributes to the sport's popularity in the world's most populous nation.
